Kilbeggan racecourse is one of the smaller race tracks in Ireland, measuring only around nine furlongs in circumference. In recent years, not only have improvements been made to the restaurants and stands, but to the surfacing of the concourse area, and extending of the enclosure. The track itself has also been widened to cater for larger fields and more race meetings. Since 1992, the number of race meetings has been increased from three to six.
Kilbeggan is a sharp, right-handed round track of around nine furlongs in extent. It is undulating with a particularly sharp turn after the second-last fence and though the run-in of around 300 yards is uphill this is no track for a long-striding horse or a staying type. There are six fences to a circuit of the chase track, which is laid out on the outside of the hurdles track.
